Roar Project Part 2: Ysis and Yoda
In less than a month, the lions Ysis and Yoda, whom you have seen grow up since their rescue 5 years ago, will be leaving for South Africa!
These lion cubs, rescued in 2020, are victims of animal trafficking: they were used by a rapper for his music videos and social media before being abandoned near Aix-en-Provence. They were saved by the 30 Million Friends Foundation , which entrusted them to Tonga Terre d’Accueil.
This transfer to South Africa, entirely funded by the 30 Million Friends Foundation (transport crates, travel to South Africa, and enclosure at the sanctuary), will allow us to offer Ysis and Yoda the life we promised them from the beginning: an incredible life in semi-freedom at SanWild Sanctuary , as part of the Roar Project. A return to their roots for these felines! At the sanctuary, a 5ha space awaits the two lions who will discover the African savannah while being monitored and cared for by the Sanwild teams.
Their departure for South Africa is scheduled for early MARCH. The Zoological Space , which has housed the lions for 5 years, will organize special days during the February holidays, to exchange with you, to talk about the Roar Project, Tonga, their future and allow you to say “goodbye” to them. The activities and stands will be announced a few days before the holidays, depending on the weather conditions.
We would like to warmly thank the 30 Million Friends Foundation and its president Mrs. Reha HUTIN for taking full charge of this large-scale transfer, allowing Ysis and Yoda to discover the land of origin of their species!
Many thanks also to Air France KLM Martinair Cargo for supporting us once again in our action. The fight against trafficking and for the transition of circuses involves many actors: together we will succeed in offering the animals a second life.
And of course, thank you to SanWild Sanctuary for welcoming back our animals and agreeing to create a new space in their reserve.
This also frees up space in the park and the shelter, allowing us to welcome other animals in need. The eternal cycle of our work!
Thanks to you, thanks to all this support, Saint-Martin-la-Plaine is becoming more and more established every day as the only springboard for circus animals or those trafficked from France to South Africa.
We can’t wait to experience this moment with you!
