In response to the growing number of circus animals or those rescued from trafficking, particularly servals since 2022, our association developed this project in 2024 to transfer animals to a sanctuary in South Africa, at Sanwild Sanctuary.
Made possible through your donations, two circus lions and four servals illegally held in France were transferred to the native lands of their species! While the lions, who have been human-imprinted, cannot be released (more information here), the servals are undergoing full rehabilitation for a return to the wild: the goal is to release them into the reserve. This is a first in France.
This first transfer, fully managed by our shelter, has freed up 6 spaces in the shelter in 2024. This is a significant help in welcoming other animals in need. However, it is an operation with high costs and complex management, and it remains exceptional. We will strive to repeat this operation as often as possible… Thanks to the efforts of our teams and partners, new animals will have the chance to live in Africa in 2025!
